Language Spoken

The official dialect of China is Mandarin, also call “Putonghua”. More than 70% of the Chinese population speaks Mandarin, but there are also several other major dialects in use in China: Yue (Cantonese), Xiang (Hunanese), Min dialect, Gan dialect, Wu dialect, and Kejia or Hakka dialect.

Currency

Chinese money, however, comes by two names: the Yuan (CNY) and the people's renminbi (RMB). The distinction is subtle: while the renminbi is the official currency of China where it acts as a medium of exchange, the yuan is the unit of account of the country's economic and financial system

Peak Season

Generally speaking, the proper seasons for traveling in China are from April to October due to the weather, the holiday period, and other reasons.

Low Season

China's winter low travel season is from November to (early) March. In the low season, although the weather is colder, you can save money on hotels, flights, and entry tickets, and you can avoid the tourist crowds. Cities in north China like Beijing, Pingyao, and Harbin are gorgeous under a blanket of snow.

TEMPERATURE:

Winter in this area is very cold, since the average January temperature is below -10 °C (14 °F), and even below -20 °C (-4 °F) in the northern part. Cold records are around -40 °C (-40 °F).
